FUTURE. |
|
World premiere of the BMW i3 Concept and the BMW i8 Concept. The
joint appearance of all BMW Group brands this year also
includes for the first time the presentation of the
sub-brand BMW i. With the world premiere of the BMW i3
Concept and the BMW i8 Concept, the BMW Group hosted one of
the highlights of the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The BMW i3
will roll off the production line in 2013 at the BMW plant
in Leipzig, while the BMW i8 will be on the road shortly
afterwards.
The BMW Concept i3, known so far as the Megacity Vehicle,
specifically defines the future challenges of mobility in
urban environments and is the first premium electric vehicle
to interpret BMW typical attributes. The BMW i8 Concept
represents the latest generation of sports cars:
progressive, intelligent and innovative. Thanks to its
plug-in hybrid concept, it combines an internal combustion
engine and an electric drive into an exceptional driving
experience – an adventure with extremely low fuel
consumption and emissions. |

DOUBLE PROGRESS. NEW ENGINES IN THE BMW X1. |
Change of Generations with the new BMW 2,0 Liter engines. The four cylinders in the new BMW X1 sDrive20d holds the BMW Variable TwinPower Turbo Technology and unites usual sporty driving dynamics with considerably reduced consumption and emission values. Powered by a 120 kW/163 hp diesel engine, this model has an average fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km in the EU test cycle and CO2 emissions of 119 grams per kilometer. Against the predecessor engine performance and Torque were once again improved. The facts prove: in 6,1 seconds from 0 to 100km/h. |

EURO NCAP CRASH TEST. |
Thanks to its segment-leading dynamic handling and versatility, the new BMW X3 has emerged as a highly successful model in the international car markets within a matter of months. The fact that it also assumes an exemplary role on the safety front has now been confirmed by Europe’s leading crash test programme. In the latest Euro NCAP crash test, the BMW X3 achieved the highest rating of 5 stars. The second-generation Sports Activity Vehicle earned its top marks in this challenging test for new vehicles thanks to its comprehensive range of standard safety equipment and effective occupant protection in various types of collision. |

Last month the spectacular introduction of the BMW 640i Convertible was celebrated in Colombo by touching senses and quickening pulses. Expectations were exceeded. Dreams awakened.
In the new BMW 6 Series Convertible, the typical proportions of a BMW open-top model – the stretched bonnet, set-back passenger cell, long wheelbase and flat waistline – are combined with a classic soft top in characteristic “fin” design. Powerfully contoured surfaces and the forward-surging dynamic of its lines leave no doubt as to its supreme driving properties. The luxurious ambience inside the cabin includes the driver-oriented cockpit that is a hallmark brand feature, while also imparting an exclusive sense of cosseted security to the front and rear passengers. Nowhere is the high-level functionality of the interior underscored more strikingly than by the newly designed freestanding Control Display of the standard-fitted iDrive operating system.
The 2011 Red dot awards for outstanding design quality have once again recognised the high standards of BMW Group Design in 2011. The new BMW 6 Series Convertible was awarded the red dot for outstanding design. The red dot award is among the world’s leading honours for product design.
